Baseline Gradshow Exhibition

Baseline is seen as a starting point in the journey of advancement within the design industry. When entering the program, you start at the same base as everyone else in your cohort. As the years progress, everyone starts to advance in different ways.”
Baseline can be seen as a singular puzzle piece. Everyone works on puzzles differently, some people start from the corner, some from the middle, and others start by creating different sections. This is the very definition of baseline, starting off the same, yet progressing differently.

Challenge

This project aimed to create a design solution for the Bachelor of Design's graduating year's graduation showcase and create an exhibition including a series of different deliverables to advertise this exhibition to those interested in the event.

Results

Posters:

The difference resides with how the promotional poster has more colour and is more attention-grabbing while the welcome poster is less dynamic yet more functional. The reason for this is how the promotional poster is to get others’ attention while they pass by the poster, the welcome poster appears tamer as it’s assumed people already know what the showcase already is.

Banner's:

The banners resemble each other since they have the same layout, just with different information and scales. I wanted to keep the layout for these banners as simple as possible to convey the point easily. Within the banner, there’s the logo is alongside a gradient and a faded-out version of the logo. This is to create a sense of depth to make the focal point stand out more.

Social Media:

This moves us on to the profiles of the graduates displayed on Instagram. When taking photos of the graduates, it should be bust-up, in black and white. Another thing seen here is the gradient maps in the back of the graduates, slightly blurred. Having a gradient for our graduates displays growth, yet a sense of personal identity to them. As all gradient maps will never look the same, even with the same set of colours.
